Celebrating Catholic Schools Week

This week, across the nation, we honor and recognize the value of a Catholic education. The Diocese of Tucson proudly serves 24 Catholic schools across southern Arizona. I believe that our schools are diverse places of faith-filled learning, where a child is more than just a student - they are the embodiment of Christ and the best example of faith in action. 
Our school principals are faithful, courageous, and servant leaders whose dedication and commitment to the mission of Catholic education create school communities that are rooted in faith, excellence and love.  On every campus our school communities strive to live out the Gospel through acts of meaningful service - feeding the hungry with food boxes or handmade sandwiches; sending prayers to the imprisoned on carefully decorated bookmarks; collecting children's books for refugee centers.  You'll find that our teachers work tirelessly to provide a high-quality Catholic education - preparing lessons for deep and inclusive learning; creating opportunities for critical thinking and complex discussion; analyzing outcomes and making plans for continued growth and achievement.  Beyond that the staff at our schools work to create safe and welcoming environments where everyone is encouraged to grow in both heart and mind - they pray together, learn together, and serve together.  My prayer is that our students develop long lasting friendships, a deep sense of purpose, and the confidence to become the people God calls them to become.  
During this special week, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our families.  Thank you for entrusting your children to our care.  We are grateful for the privilege of partnering with you in this sacred work of forming disciples.  Thank you for choosing a Catholic education.  
To our principals, teachers, staff, pastors, families, parishioners, donors, volunteers, and partner organizations - thank you. Thank you for choosing this ministry of Catholic education to share your time, talents, and treasure with.  We are thankful for the countless ways in which you support our schools and the mission of the Church.
