Thank you to Sr. Gladys and the many people who continue to help the Hispanic Ministry program thrive throughout the Diocese of Tucson. This week, on social media, the Catholic Extension Society recognized the Diocese of Tucson for forming "Hispanic lay leaders to become agents of hope and healing in their communities."
On Facebook Catholic Extension Societyshared a photo of Sr. Gladys Echenique, O.P., the coordinator for Hispanic Ministry, at a recent gathering in Casa Grande. The post stated that the program, "supports Hispanic ministry in the diocese, which served the pastoral, spiritual and educational needs of 800 individuals this past year. Because of this training, these certified leaders are already comforting grieving families, visiting homebound elders, and creating inclusive parish ministries that welcome those once overlooked. As one lay leader, Diana Garcia, shared, “This program touched my heart and strengthened my commitment to bring hope to those in need.”
