The Saturday vigil Mass at Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sierra Vista was a bit more lively this weekend when Bishop Edward Weisenburger and retired Bishop Emeritus Gerald Kicanas visited and celebrated Mass. The bishops were there to share the joyous news that our Holy Father Pope Francis had bestowed the papal honor of Chaplain to His Holiness with the title of Reverend Monsignor upon Father Greg Adolf.
When the announcement was made Bishop Weisenburger said, “There was an exceptionally lengthy and very moving standing ovation by his parishioners.” The bishop also said, “We are blessed to have a vibrant and healthy presbyterate, of which Msgr. Adolf is a wonderful example.”
Monsignor Adolf admits he felt a bit out of sorts with the attentions, “I accept this honor as an honor coming to this wonderful parish community and the super priests and deacons and lay leaders that I have been privileged to serve alongside over the years.” He was ordained in 1991.
Following Mass, the congregation enjoyed a reception where Monsignor Adolf celebrated with his parishioners.
