Bishop Misko asks the faithful of the Diocese of Tucson to join him in offering a prayer of thanksgiving for the men serving our parishes, schools, and apostolates on the occasion of Religious Brothers Day, May 1, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Religious Brothers are men who have given their lives to ministry in the Church and who collaborate with our bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated women, and lay ecclesial ministers in serving the people of God.
First celebrated in 2017, this important day highlights the vocation of Religious Brothers and their witness of prayer, fraternity, and service. Its foundation is the Vatican document Identity and Mission of the Religious Brother in the Church, approved by Pope Francis on October 4, 2015, which identifies consecrated fraternity for God in service to the Church as a gift received, shared in communion, and given in mission. May God continue to bless our Religious Brothers who serve the Church in so many important ways.
