The Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Manitowoc, WI, elected a new Community Director on June 23, 2025. Bishop David Ricken, of the Diocese of Green Bay, presided over the election. Sister Marlita Henseler, from St. Dominic Parish, Sheboygan, was elected to serve a six-year term. Prior to being elected Community Director, Sister Marlita ministered as a teacher, principal and Pastoral Leader. Her most recent service was to minister to the Hispanic People in Tucson, AZ.
Four Sisters were elected to serve a six-year term on the General Administration Council. First Councilor is Sister Pamela Biehl, from All Saints Parish, Chicago, IL. Sister Pamela has a background in education, Director of Liturgy and Parish Leader. Sister’s most recent experience was in Pastoral Ministry. Second Councilor is Sister Anne Turba of St. Ann Parish, St. Anna, WI. Sister’s background is in nursing and she served as a Nurse Practitioner before being elected to Community leadership. Sister Jacqueline Spaniola, originally from St. Mary Queen of Angels Parish, Swartz Creek, MI, was elected Third Councilor. Sister Jacqueline has ministered as a teacher, Director of Religious Education and prior to being elected Councilor, was missioned in Chassell, MI where she was Parish Associate at St. Albert the Great University Parish, Houghton. The Fourth Councilor elected is Sister Carol Ann Gambsky from Most Precious Blood Parish, New London, WI. Sister Carol Ann has been in the field of music education all of her religious life and most recently as Administrator of the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, Manitowoc.
Installation services for the General Administration of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity were held on July 13, 2025 at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc. The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity were founded on November 9, 1869 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Sisters presently serve in Arizona, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
