This Is the Hour for Love: The 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal

Whether you were cheering for the Seahawks, rooting for the Patriots, or simply glad the Super Bowl had ended and life returned to ordinary routines, this past weekend captured a lot of attention—both in our homes and in our parishes.

This weekend, parishes across our Diocese also celebrated Commitment Weekend for the 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal. Guided by this year’s theme, “This is the hour for love,” parishioners were invited to reflect on how God’s love is lived out through faith, service, and generosity. Parishioners may have heard announcements, noticed posters and banners around the parish, or watched the video in which Bishop Gerald Kicanas introduces this year’s theme. These visible signs throughout our parishes point to the shared mission the Annual Catholic Appeal makes possible across our Diocese.
Gifts to the Annual Catholic Appeal support vital ministries throughout the Diocese. Of the $4.1 million diocesan goal for the 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal, funds are distributed as follows: 24% to Schools, Education, and Evangelization; 22% to Seminarian and Clergy Formation; 18% to Parish Support Services; 16% to Diocesan Ministries; 10% to Community Outreach; and 10% to Grants for Needy Parishes and Native American Missions.

Every commitment—no matter the amount—helps strengthen our parishes, form future priests, advance diocesan-wide education and evangelization efforts, and care for those most in need. If they have not already, parishioners are invited to prayerfully consider making a commitment to the 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal in the weeks ahead. Committing by May 31 is encouraged, as it allows our parishes the opportunity to focus on other important needs.
