Usually we inspire each other with encouragement to move forward: Siempre Adelante!
But each year, all disciples are called to step back, to retreat.
It is a response to the Lord’s invitation to his disciples: "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while" (Mark 6:31).
That is exactly what dozens of retreatants who walk in the Ignatian way will be doing at the Redemptorist Renewal Center on October 18-20.
From Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, we walk “alone together,” keeping silence. The combination of input and reflection, formal prayer and quiet time, is a powerful opportunity to allow the Holy Spirit to speak in our hearts.
This year, Fr. Frank Reale, SJ, will lead us in “Remembering and Refocusing through the Spiritual Exercises.” We will have a unique experience to remember the gifts we have been given and to re-commit ourselves to using those gifts for God’s mighty purpose.
In the silence, the Holy Spirit then speaks to each person what he or she needs to hear.
We extend an invitation to all to join us on those three days. No experience in the Spiritual Exercises is necessary to benefit from their power to transform you.
